Never Too Young To Win An Award

Never Too Young To Win An Award

Fenton Kirkland

We recently came across this heart warming story in the media and just had to share it with you. This is 3yr old Fenton Kirkland who won a gold trophy (almost half his size) at the Sunnybank Equestrian Centre Show Extravaganza. He not only won this gold cup in the championship category but also the best in show rosette which he and his horse are proudly showing off.
The category Fenton won was for showing horses (or a pony in this case). Fenton really made an effort for the event with a gorgeous mini waistcoat, cute little tie and adorable flat cap set at the traditional and trendy jaunty angle.
Fenton won the hearts of the spectators and judges immediately, but then followed through showing he wasn’t just cute, but very skilful in showing horses too. Fenton ran the length of the full size ring putting his Shetland Pony Toffee through his paces to impress the judges and win the competition.
After the competition his proud mother and Auntie were interviewed and they both revealed that Fenton was a natural having been born into a family of horse lovers and horsey people. Fenton was given Toffee as a birthday present and enjoys spending hours in the fields with his new best friend, practicing at showing and perfecting their skills. It’s something that Fenton genuinely seems to enjoy and his family are clearly extremely proud of him.
Fenton’s Aunt has been showing horses for years and his grandfather, as pictured, was a racehorse trainer so maybe the horse training skills are hereditary and this is why Fenton has become such a pro with the horses, so early on.
You only have to look at Fenton’s face to see how pleased he was to win an award; it’s a face of sheer delight, happiness and enjoyment. Now let’s be honest – wouldn’t we all have a smile like that on our faces if we had won an award?
